Texas Grips is an independently owned business founded by Henry Lance in 2013.
After seeing a Mesquite wood table that Henry built, a friend asked him to make a set of Mesquite 1911 grips. That friend told a friend and after numerous referrals, Texas Grips was born.
He started out with handmade 1911 grips and quickly purchased a precision (CNC) router to keep up with demand for new models, including revolvers and semi-auto grips. Soon a laser engraver was added, enabling him to customize grips with checkering, logos, monograms, badges, military insignias, and other heirloom designs.
After graduating with his Mechanical Engineering Degree in 2022, Henry’s son, Wyatt Lance joined the company full time. He is currently the Production Manager, running the shop with three CNC routers, and is on track to continue the family business.
We have made grips for thousands of satisfied customers over the years, and we want you to know that we love what we do and are blessed to work with firearm enthusiasts who appreciate fine craftsmanship.
Henry Lance is the founder and owner of Texas Grips, a designer and manufacturer of high-quality handgun grips. With over 12 years of experience in the industry, Henry has created a brand and a loyal following of great customers in the firearms industry.
Products made by Henry and his team at Texas Grips have been featured in several publications, and they have had the honor of working on large production grip projects with well-known firearms companies like Kimber Firearms (45th Anniversary Edition buffalo horn grips), Tyler Gun Works, SK Arms VA, & C&C Firearms, among others.
Henry has been an avid woodworker & cabinet maker most of his life. He has embraced and enjoyed learning the ins and outs of modern computerized woodworking techniques to help share his craftsmanship and products with a larger percentage of the market, but the hands-on detail work will always be his passion. Creating those legacy firearm grips that tell a story and will be passed on to future generations is what truly brings joy to him.
Wyatt Lance is the Production Manager at Texas Grips, where he oversees daily operations and ensures the company’s reputation for precision and craftsmanship. A Mechanical Engineering graduate, Wyatt officially joined the family business in 2022 after years of hands-on experience helping in the workshop while he was attending college. His combination of technical expertise and practical knowledge gives him a well-rounded understanding of the entire grip-making process.
Outside of work, Wyatt is an Eagle Scout and an avid reader with a strong interest in nonfiction, particularly military, war history, and current events.
