Texas Grips is an independently owned business founded by Henry Lance in 2013.
After seeing a Mesquite wood table that Henry built, a friend asked him to make a set of Mesquite 1911 grips. A friend told a friend and after numerous referrals, Texas Grips was born.
The majority of his grips are made out of Mesquite wood, native to South Texas. Other available materials include: various woods, synthetics / polymers, natural bone, horn, antler, & similar materials.
He started out with hand made 1911 grips and quickly purchased a precision (CNC) router to keep up with demand for new models, including revolvers and semi-auto grips. Soon a laser engraver was added, enabling him to customize grips with logos, monograms, badges, military insignias, and other heirloom designs.
Some customers have provided their own wood and other materials to create their unique grips. When special requests for engraving designs or unusual materials are presented to Henry, his typical response is “Challenge Accepted”.
“ I love what I do and I am blessed to work with firearm enthusiasts who appreciate fine craftsmanship.”
