These Texas Mesquite Extended grips are 1/2″ longer and wrap around the bottom of the frame, adding more grip area for shooters with larger hands and for shooting larger calibers. They give a whole new feel to these pistols. These grips will fit Ruger XR3 Frames including New Vaquero, Flat- Top Blackhawk, and SASS Vaquero. These grips do not fit the pre-1963 Single Six or 3 screw Blackhawk (see Old Style XR3). They also do not fit the New Vaquero .44 magnum (see XR3 Red). These grips fit all XR3 grip frames models with or without the internal locking mechanism. See also our regular version of this type of grip.
These grips are also available in a variety of natural woods hand finished with a catalyzed lacquer, and laminated woods. Ruger factory medallions, checkering or textures can be added. Inlays, custom engraving and custom woods are available if you wish to contact us. Photo – Sample

I don’t email vendors often but your product is exceptional. Pardon the poor quality of the attached photo but I wanted you to see the difference even though you have seen similar many times. I bought this New Vaquero some years ago but never was fond of it. I had forgotten how awkward a SAA feels to a person with big mitts like mine and came to feel I had made a mistake buying this pistol. Technically, I think the New Vaquero is a great advancement for someone who would like to shoot a traditional six-gun but not put up with the archaic characteristics of a Colt.
But gripping this New Vaquero was like shaking hands with a small child. It just never felt natural, comfortable. I’m not blaming the pistol. I’m 6’4” with hands to match and the New Vaquero with the itsy 2-finger grips is just wrong.
Well, that pistol is now my favorite for dry-firing at the network news. I leave it where I can pick it up in a spare moment and enjoy the fit & function. And live fire follow up recovery is quicker. Your mesquite grips have entirely changed the character of this pistol. And another thing, I think the whole package looks better with these better proportioned grips. I believe I prefer it over my New Blackhawk Bisley.
